100% Assistant Pastor for Säterbygdens Parish

We are looking for an engaged priest who loves to build community, lead services, and meet people. You are passionate about the Christian faith and want to make a difference in people's everyday lives. It is a merit if you have experience gathering people around worship and conversation and have a diaconal approach.

The Parish. The parish works diaconally with the MARY method to meet people in long-term absence from the labor market and work for their restoration. The method is also reflected in the interactions within the staff team and towards the parishioners. We operate under the values of seen, loved, and involved, and we are looking for someone who helps others feel seen, loved, and involved in Säterbygdens Parish.  

 Säter Hospital has shaped the community and is an integral part of the parish, which also gives the parish a clear diaconal focus. We meet people in all stages and conditions of life. Skönvik Church, which is the hospital church in the area, is vibrant and well-visited.

 The children's and youth activities are extremely well-attended, and the parish is a natural meeting place for children, families, and youth. After the new year, we will invest in a mission with a mobile home to meet people where they gather, regardless of the reason or season. Where people meet, the church should also be present. 

Säterbygdens Parish has a rich and varied worship life, and services can be celebrated almost daily. The parish also has a rich and lively music offering in connection with services and masses.

We are a flexible and unpretentious team that joyfully and energetically meets the various needs of the parish. We collaborate and support each other and find constructive solutions to accomplish our tasks.

Job Responsibilities.  

There is growth in Säterbygdens Parish, and in a two-year project where we continue to build and stabilize everything that is happening, an additional assistant pastor is needed. If things go as well as we hope, the position will be made permanent.

The position will be part of the many services and church activities we have each year, leading worship and otherwise being part of the lively parish building where priestly contributions are needed, such as pastoral care and Christian deepening.

The worship and devotion life is varied, and all activities are directed towards the altar and Christian deepening. You will be part of a team of over 25 full-time employees, of which three are your priest colleagues (parish priest, youth pastor, and an assistant pastor position with a focus on the hospital church).

We also have the advantage of support from several retired priests who assist as needed. A 40-hour flexible workweek is applied, and working hours may vary. You will serve every other weekend and be responsible for Saturday's baptisms and Sunday's services.

Where? Säterbygdens Parish covers the same geographical area as Säter Municipality, located in southern Dalarna, with proximity to Falun, Borlänge, Ludvika, Hedemora, as well as Västerås, Uppsala, and Stockholm within a couple of hours' drive. In Säter, there is the old beautiful wooden town, and the countryside is rolling in Stora Skedvi, Silvberg, and Gustafs. The parish has four churches and three active parish halls. The position is 100%. A 3-month probationary period applies. If all goes well, the position will be part of a project for two years with the possibility of permanent employment.

A valid driver's license (B) is required for the position.
